Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Background Leadless pacemakers (LP) capable VDD function are a cornerstone modern pacemaker therapy reducing complications in elderly patients while enabling atrioventricular synchrony through mechanical sensing atrial contraction. Because is less reliable than electrical sensing, the reliability LP varies. We evaluated p-wave amplitude from patient ECGs as predictor for successful LP. Materials and methods Consecutive undergoing implantation were included this multi-center retrospective cohort study. As mainly dependent on A4 signal current generation device, ECG parameters pre-implantation separately combination association with post-implantation. Results 122 Patients (mean age 81, female 44%, mean BMI 25.9 kg/m2) included. Main indication was AV-Block (70%). BMI-adjusted P-wave demonstrated statistically significant positive correlation leads I, II, aVL, aVF, aVR, V1 V2 (all p<0.05). Stable Atrial Sensing on Long-Term Follow Up of VDD Pacemakers
BACKGROUND The hemodynamic advantages of maintaining AV synchrony through AV synchronous pacing are widely known as compared to single chamber pacing. DDD pacemaker implantation entails higher cost and is technically more challenging than the VDD pacemaker. METHODS Seventy one patients underwent VDD lead (Biotronik GmbH, St. Jude Medical and Medtronic Inc.) implantation at KEM hospital, Mumba...
متن کاملPredictors of inappropriate atrial sensing in long-term VDD-pacing systems.
AIMS The efficacy and stability of the atrial electrode sensing function is essential for maintaining atrioventricular (AV) synchrony. This study aimed to explore the long-term reliability and causes of the long-term sensing failure of VDD systems. METHODS AND RESULTS We enrolled all the patients with complete or high-degree AV block who received VDD pacemakers between August 1994 to January ...
متن کاملLeadless pacemakers: leading us into the future?
Since the first permanent pacemaker implant, almost 60 years ago, there has been continued progress and evolution of these devices. The technology has advanced on many fronts, with longer battery lives, smaller sized generators, with an intelligent ‘adaptive functionality’ closely mimicking the human physiology. However, contemporary implant technology has been disadvantaged by the need for a s...
متن کاملIntermittent atrial undersensing in single-lead VDD pacemakers in patients with bradycardia-sensitive repolarization: a possible mechanism for ventricular arrhythmia.
Intermittent atrial undersensing in patients with single-lead VDD pacemakers is regarded as being of limited clinical significance. Nevertheless, in patients with bradycardia-mediated repolarization abnormalities, undersensing could result in RR-interval oscillations due to changes in pacemaker mode and this could act as a trigger for the initiation of torsades de pointes. We report our finding...
